Our Architectural Design Process
We follow a three-phase process to deliver a comprehensive design that meets your budget, program and schedule. After each phase, we like to consult your contractor to make sure we are staying within the desired budget:
Schematic design: We sketch hand drawings in the initial phase to give you a first glimpse of the layout, look and feel of your new home. Each sketch is intentional, providing a thoughtful, personalized, organic process for bringing your dream to life. In this phase, we will outline room requirements, adjacency considerations, theme and style considerations, and material preferences.
Design development: Once our hand sketches properly capture your vision, we’ll move to computerized 2D drawings. These drawings include floor plans, exterior elevations and building sections. During this phase, we also develop realistic 3D renderings of the exterior to establish material and color palettes.
Construction documents: During this stage, we really hone the details and technical drawings for your home. We take pride in our comprehensive drawing sets as they leave nothing open for interpretation. Our detailed drawings include everything required for a permit but also provide clear direction for the contractor. Our concise drawing sets also allow for more accurate pricing before construction starts.
Supporting You Through Every Step of the Architectural Design Process
Here at Ruggles Mabe Studio, we’re actively immersed in the architectural design process daily. But you? You’ll likely only go through it once. Which means we know you’ll have questions. We promise to stand by your side throughout the process, providing guidance, answering questions and offering support all the way through.
